The National Competition Framework was developed by the Youth Sport Trust, Sport England, the National Council for School Sport and National Governing Bodies with a vision to create:
"A world class system for school aged competition that provides both opportunities for all young people regardless of their ability, and recognised pathways to develop their talents."
So far 21 NGB's have developed their own Frameworks to provide clear, appropriate structures for school and club competition. For more information on the National Competition Frameworks please visit http://www.youthsporttrust.org/page/competition-framework/index.html
A Competition Manager infrastructure has now been established across all 49 county areas in England to deliver the National Competition Framework. Wesport employs a team of 5 Competition Managers (CM's) with a clear vision to:
- Increase participation in high quality competition
- Broaden the range of competitive opportunities for all
- Develop structured, consistent and progressive competitive pathways
The role of the Competition Manager team is to:
- Provide the strategic lead for competition and engage with a range of local partners including National Governing Bodies of sport, school associations, clubs, coaches, teachers and SSP staff (PDM's, SSCo's and PLTs).
- Manage and co-ordinate the planning and implementation of school competition programmes
- Complement and develop existing provision, building on good practice, ensuring that the competition programme links with other programmes and fits into the wider context.
Each Wesport Competition Manager is responsible for a geographical area within Wesport, including two School Sport Partnerships at either primary or secondary school level. To see a breakdown of the CM team work programmes Click Here.
