14/07/2010 11:21:22

Over 300 pupils aged 11-14 year olds from 7 secondary schools in South Glos were treated to a sport extravaganza at Filton College, WISE Campus on Wednesday 30th June. With over 12 different sports on offer, each pupil got to try two different sports throughout the day. Sports ranged from extreme Frisbee to American football!

The day kicked off with a fantastic opening warm up taken by the Basketball players from the Filton Academy team! Sam Weale, Beijing Modern Pentathlon athlete was there to witness the event and talk to the schools about his experience of being an Olympic athlete and how school sport impacted on his career.

A pupil from Castle school commented “From my experience I think that this event is a way to make new friends and gets everyone involved in new sport. I hope I can come again next year!”

The event was organised by the Competition Manager Team for Wesport (West of England Sport Trust) in partnership with Danny James at Filton College and the South Glos Yate School Sport Partnership.
